Austin, TX — Ray O'Hara releases “The Friday Ten,” a gritty, good-time roots-rock song that celebrates the artists, records, and old trucks that make the ride home on a Friday afternoon feel like something worth looking forward to.
Written by Ray O'Hara and John Lynch, “The Friday Ten” takes listeners along for a drive in a well-worn ’85 pickup, with the radio turned up that name-checks musical touchstones from The Meters to Ray Wylie Hubbard.
From the opening lines, The Friday Ten makes it clear that this isn't a song about settling for whatever happens to be playing on the radio. It's about knowing what you want to hear—and knowing exactly which music can get you where you're going.
The result is a character-driven road song with a distinctly Texas sensibility: a rusted ’85 pickup, empty cans rattling in the truck bed, a winding road, and a Friday afternoon soundtrack that carries the narrator home.
